Taking Life Head On - Dayo Olomu

I have always taken life head on because I had no choice. I got an early jolt in
life when, barely eight years, I lost my father. Since then, life has been a
struggle. I was raised by my mother, a widow who had neither education nor
financial means, but a big heart. My mother is a wonderful woman. I greatly
benefited from the deep well of her wisdom. My mother instilled in me sound,
moral, spiritual values and the virtue of hard work.
My mother is the single most enduring and profound influence on my life. She
sold her property to send my brother and me to school. Her goals were simple;
she wanted me to make something out of myself, go places she didn't dare dream
of. Hence, when I left secondary school, I promised to make my life a miracle,
to succeed against all odds. That promise has been my driving force.
By the age of 10, I had acquired the thirst to achieve success from selling iced
water and biscuits on the streets of Lagos to support my mother. The best thing
that happened to me was growing up as they say, “on the other side of the
tracks,” without the privilege of wealthy parents. Anything I wanted I had to
hustle and scrap for. Far from a drawback, this was a definite advantage for me.
Today, I thank God because those times have been confined into history. But
there were times when, as the song says, "I have been down so long it looked
like up to me." At no point in my life, down in the valley or savoring
achievement, did I think it was going to be easy. I suggest that instead of
waiting for life to give you an easy path, that you enter the flow of life and
take it as it comes to you, understanding that there will be hard times that
will try your soul and good times that will lift it up.
In life, you need to have faith to be able to take life head on. Rather than
raise the white flag of surrender, lash out in anger, or take the path of least
resistance, you can rise to the challenges and meet it head on with your faith
in God.
Marcus Garvey once said, "Some of us seem to accept the fatalist position, and
attitude, that the creator accorded us a certain position and condition,
therefore there is no need trying to be otherwise." His words prefaced an essay
by well known authors, Dennis Kimbro and Napoleon Hill, who wrote about “Black
Men responding to challenges”, in the book- Brotherman: The Odyssey of Black Men
in America - An Anthology. "In everyone's life there comes a time of ultimate
challenge - a time when all our resources are tested. A time life seems unfair.
A time when our faith, our values, our patience, our compassion and our ability
to persist are pushed to the limit. Some have used such tests as opportunity for
growth while others have turned away and allowed these experiences to destroy
their hopes."
Life can bring so many things in your path. They are the milestones that make
the journey meaningful. The events that will not only shape our life but also
how we perceive it. Today, that boy who hawked on the streets of Lagos, who
gatecrashed at an album launch in order to make a name in showbusiness has now
became a man. Having set his feet firmly on the way to his dream, also propelled
by a mother's grueling determination and his faith in God.
So when the going gets tough, when the situation looks uncertain, be not afraid.
Trudge on. Hold on to your faith with the buoyant and divine assurance that all
will be well. See you at the top soon !

HOW TO LIVE A FULFILLED LIFE - By Ben Mohammed
For a long time, I have encouraged and inspired
readers of my motivational books, tracts and articles to follow their heart's
desires, be honest to their dreams and let passion empower their lives. It is
quite interesting to hear many inspiring and incredible results from individual
that have honoured their hearts’ desires, and subsequently found happiness and
success in their chosen profession. What will you do if you have a dream of
becoming successful in life but you are not in a position to accomplish it?
Either due to financial constrains or other pressures and obligations. If your
dream is relegated to a future time, and your current situation does not look
like anything your heart desires or dreams, here are your guidelines:
First, act with courage as if your dream is already real, no matter your current
situation. Every conscious man on earth has a dream of succeeding in life.
Success is determined by your personal desire, passion and tenacity of purpose.
Indeed everybody needs courage to succeed in any career, profession or vocation.
Without courage success is a mirage. Nothing good comes easy. So, we need to be
courageous, devoted and determined in whatever we do or strive for. "Courage -
unless a man has that virtue he has no security for preserving any other." E.
Fremont said. Failure in life occurs mainly because of our inability to approach
our beautiful ideas and visions with strong courage.
The Bible says, "Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates,
waiting at the posts of my doors. For who so findeth me, findeth life and shall
obtain favour from the Lord." (Proverbs8: 34-35). Thus a man of courage is an
unconventional person. Yes, it is difficult for men to wait patiently upon the
Lord in times of tribulation. We need wisdom and courage and serenity to
understand the word of God, because riches and honours are from Him. The fear of
the Lord makes us abhor sloth, laziness, pride, arrogance, selfishness and
wickedness. We should always remember to trust in the Lord with all our heart in
whatever situation we find ourselves. God is going to reward us more
abundantly. We need courage to face the realities of life. Many have failed to
achieve their sweet dreams because they lack the courage and wisdom.
Second, do what you have to do in the meantime, but keep your vision alive in
your mind and heart. It will sustain you spiritually. If you choose to succeed
in life, everything else you do exists in service toward that goal you have set
for yourself. As an aspiring musician, your part time job as a cleaner is a
vehicle toward buying a guitar. Then, you have think, speak and practice music
as much as you can when you are not doing your cleaning job. The quality of your
life depends less on what you are doing with your body, and more on what you are
doing with your time and spirit. Keep your soul nourished and everything else
will fall into place. As Eleanor Roosevelt rightly noted, "The future belong to
those who believe in the beauty of their dream."
Third, honestly identify your talent. Then take a leap of faith and act on it.
Some who have succeed gloriously do consider their leap as the best moment of
their lives. Others do not ultimately live to the vision they set out for, but
creates a lifestyle more rewarding than the one they left. Others return to a
position similar to their original one. Be truly honest with yourself. Recognize
your weak points and talents. Have the courage to face the challenges of life
without fear. Of course, most fears are just negative visualization, and
changing that vision to a positive one may be all you need to take steps toward
living the life you have always dreamed of.
Fourth, make a change in your present situation. If you can't change anything
about your present job, you can bring desired qualities of your dream into your
situation. If you want to be a successful motivational speaker, you do not need
to stand on a stage to speak. You could start by writing inspirational articles
for people in the hospitals and you will be amazed on the number of lives you
will inspire and change within a short time.
Last, show love, compassion and appreciate others. With every good thing you do, you are sowing a seed through the harvest you may not see; your positive attitude towards others will grow into something that nurtures and thrives. Calling a friend who is sick will brighten his or her day. A stranger you help today may save someone's life tomorrow. Your generosity towards someone in need may impact much on that person's children and future generations to come.

SECRETS THAT WILL MAKE CUSTOMERS RUSH YOUR PRODUCTS LIKE HOT CAKE

It can simply be summarized that the reason why many products or services are not well patronized is because of the ignorance of the owners on how to apply the right and adequate marketing strategies.
If you are truly in business and you are really concerned about the acceptability of your product or services, which is the bedrock of all businesses; then of course, you have to do all that is required to make your product or service a market leader.
If you are truly serious about this subject, pick your thinking cap and let’s go.
1. MAKE SURE THAT YOUR PRODUCT OR SERVICES MEET PEOPLE’S NEED
Dr. Robert Schuller said, “The greatest secret of success is to find a need and fill it”. Zig Ziglar said, “The best way to solve your own problem is to help others to solve theirs. If a product or service is ever going to survive in the market place, the first quality it must possess is to meet peoples’ needs or at least improve their standard of living. And if you will sit down and think about it very well, you will discover that it is one of the major reasons why one business will be flourishing while the other will be struggling in the market place.
2. BE SURE THAT YOUR PRODUCT OR SERVICE IS UNIQUE
A Pastor said “Creativity is doing what nobody has done, or doing what everybody is doing, but in a different way”. Making your product or services different from other ones in the market place is undoubtedly another vital step in making your product or services a market leader. The Publisher Of Success Digest Extra, Dr. Sunny Obazu Ojeagbase was speaking one day about competitors, and he said –“most of the people we refer to as competitors are not really competitors, they are copy-titors”.
When your product or service is unique among its peers, you don’t have to panic over competition because you have a way of standing tall among your so called competitors. One more thing, don’t ever forget that no matter how new what you are trying to do is, someone is somewhere trying to do a similar thing. So, if you are going to stroll successfully in the market place, you just have to be uniquely different and qualitative. We are in a competitive world, learn to compete favourably.
3. ADVERTISEMENT IS A MUST
I was at a business seminar one day organized by the Publisher of Success Digest Extra, Dr. Sunny Obazu Ojeagbase; he asked the attendees how many of us are already in business. A good numbers of us raised our hands. Then again, he asked, how many of us has monthly budget for advert and believe me, only a few hands were up.
He hissed and said - “No wonder, many businesses are struggling”. Listen to me and believe me, advert is to business what blood is to our body. It is that important. Drain blood out of the body of a person and it is just a question of time, the person will die. So also is business and I mean any business, just remove the advert potentials and you can be sure that it is just a matter of time, the business will die”.
Advertisement is the aspect of marketing where your product or service is introduced to the consuming public for patronage. If you have a business and you are not advertising, you are not better than a man who is winking to a lady in the dark, because you are the only who knows what you are doing, nobody else does. You can advertise your business through Stickers, Business Cards, Sign Boards, Banners, Newspapers, Magazines, Bill Boards, Radio, and TV. Or even the Internet. Adverts, like persons are in categories, choose your own capacity and begin to do something about it. Do you know Coca Cola and Pepsi’s biggest secret? Advert of course!
4. MOVE WITH THE TIME
One great man said; “Sleep not under the tent of your forefathers, the world is advancing, advance with it”.
If you and your business are going to be relevant in the business environment by 21st century , then you must not slack in updating your industry with the current information. You must mingle with the right people, most especially people that are doing well in your chosen profession. Read the right books that will help you move up in your business. Ask relevant business questions from professionals. Endeavour to seek all the help you can get.
5. DEVELOP A PLEASING PERSONALITY
There is a Chinese statement which said “if you cannot smile, do not open shop”. This statement is true whether in China, America or Nigeria. Nobody wants a person who proves difficult all the time or who is always found frowning to do business with. Everybody wants to be welcomed with a smile. Everybody loves compliment. Nobody wants to be saddened. People already have enough problems of their own, so they do not want more”.
Learn to appreciate your customers and make them feel great. Don’t quarrel with them and no matter what happens, do not raise your voice at them. Even if they wronged you, treat them gently. Always find a way to make them happy. One wise man said; “The best way to measure great people is the way they treat little people”. The Bible said if you want to have friends, be a friend.
6. DO NOT YIELD TO DISCOURAGEMENT
Nobody is completely immune from discouraging moments. When you are in business, you are sure to come across many frustrating moments. Do not allow them to discourage or disturb you from doing what you are supposed to do. The more positively you handle such moments, the more you stay in business and the more you make a success of it.
7. STUDY THE PRODUCT OF YOUR OPPONENTS
One good way to tackle your competitor is to get a sample of your competitor’s product or service. Try and improve in some areas and launch it. Try and find out if your competitor’s product is of low quality, costlier, difficult to locate or less attractive.A
You should deliberately improve on those areas and come out with something better and preferable to consuming public. Somebody said; “A good imitation is the best original”, but you will do yourself a lot of good if you will work on what John Mason said that “Imitation is limitation”.
8. DO NOT EXPECT INSTANT PROFIT
If you will not scare away your customers with throat cutting prices because you want to make quick profits, you will go far in business. One big mistake that many of today’s entrepreneurs make is that they are always running after quick rewards. When you are sowing into a business, the absolute truth is that the reward will come. But it does not always come as quick as we expected.
Rev. Sam Adeyemi said; A day’s business is not a good business”. Take time to interview the people that you really respect in your industry and ask them how the beginning was like, you will see that they are most likely to tell you that the beginning were not as rosy as people think . Move ahead steadily and patiently. God will surely give you all the necessary gadgets and power . Don’t forget the statement “Slow and Steady Wins the Race”

Jesus Christ, the BLESSED ASSURANCE is the only way to Heaven. No one can be saved except through Him. If you die tonight, where will you spend your eternity, Heaven or Hell? Will you not faithfully obey Him today so that Heaven can be yours? If you want to be a child of God and escape the damnation of Hell, confess all your sins to God and honestly say this prayer: in perfect submission and delight, Almighty Father, I come to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, your only begotten son who died on the cross of Calvary for the forgiveness and remission of my sins and also the sins of the whole world. Forgive all my sins; cleanse me with your precious blood. Break my yoke with the power of your anointing and free me from the stranglehold of evil ones. Increase my Faith as you did in the lives of the apostles.
Inspire me with wisdom to know the purpose of life and to put meaning into my life according to your perfect will. Let me become your child and return to you like the prodigal son. Deliver me from the power of Satan and Hell in Jesus name. Amen. ON A SPECIAL NOTE, a new life of saintliness is your greatest miracle from this hour! The prospect of Heaven will genuinely inspire you with joy. You can now begin to count your blessings while you perceive the echoes of Christ’s mercy and whispers of His love as the foretaste of Heaven. Secure a copy of the Holy Bible; read and meditate on the world. Manifest this change in your inner life as you start regular prayer, fasting and meditations. Do your duty, and relate confidently and gracefully with your neighbours, strangers and co-workers in your office or work place to the glory of God.
Name other things you can do today just for the Love of God! As Being and living is an authentic rebel against sin and evil with Christ’s atonement, the exhortation in Romans (12:12) has become most pertinent as you cherish the prospects of Heaven: "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God." The message of Prince Ben Mohammed is abundantly clear with amazing grace: The only hope for the world is reconciliation to God through His son, which brings revival to the human heart and to every person. May your new life in Christ be crowned with divine success and eternal victory based on the credo and tenacity of purpose in Paul’s Epistle to the Philippians (4:8): "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think of these things."
Lastly, look for a Bible believing church near you and start fellowship with them.
